Calling all partners! Did you know you can help slay postpartum depression?

Often, new moms don't realize that they have postpartum depression. Maybe they feel like they don't want to hold or care for the baby. Maybe they talk about putting the baby up for adoption. They may even talk about  harming themselves or the baby. 

Whether you are partners in love or not, you are partners in parenting, and signs of postpartum depression could impact the ability of your child to grow into the happiest and healthiest potential version of themself. The good news is healthcare can help! Partners, feel empowered to look for signs of mom's depression.

Postpartum depression does not make mothers bad or unfit; however, left untreated, depression could spiral into a poor outcome. You can help by looking for signs that your child's mother is struggling.

Remember, if you fear for the immediate safety of mom or baby guide her in getting help immediately.

Call 911 if you fear immediate, life-threatening danger. Also, encourage the mother to reach out to her doctor to create a plan to address this. Treatment works.
